 The Impact of Medications on Wound Healing: Dr. Jessica Pyhtila, PharmD, BCPS, BCGP

 At the end of this activity, attendees will be able to:
  • Describe the pathophysiology of at least 3 different kinds of wounds
  •  Describe the roles and responsibilities for at least 3 interdisciplinary team members in wound management
  • List 3 medication classes that may speed wound healing, and the mechanism by which they speed it
  • List 3 medication classes that may delay wound healing, and the mechanism by which they delay it
  • Given a patient case, make at least 1 pharmacotherapy intervention that may improve wound management

     Diabetes Managment: What’s New with Type II:  Dr. Erin VanMeter, PharmD, BCACP

     At the end of this activity, attendees will be able to:

    • Review updates to the evaluation and management of patients with T2DM from the ADA: Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes-2018 and AACE/ACE Comprehensive Type 2 Diabetes Management Algorithm-2018.
    • Discuss the role of self-monitoring blood glucose and continuous glucose monitoring in the management of T2DM.
    • Identify appropriate pharmacologic treatment options for individualized T2DM management using guideline- and trial-based evidence and accounting for patient and agent related variable.

    • Describe the components of enhanced recovery programs in pre-, intra-, and post-operative care. 
    • Describe the functions and activities that clinical pharmacists employ in enhanced recovery programs. 
    • Outline the evidence where clinical pharmacists have had positive impacts on the practice and research of enhanced recovery programs.
